****  Living in a historical building from the 17th century...

The house stands in the heritage village of Castrisch, surrounded by buildings which are also protected. Castrisch is off the tourist areas, but in the middle of Surselva, near the Upper Rhine and the Rhine Canyon and is a pedestrian village (30 kph on all roads in the local area).

The renovation of the 120 square meters large apartment on the 1st floor is finally completed after some years and we look with satisfaction at a successful work. We have preserved as much as possible of the old building, the room layout was not changed, the antique doors with iron fittings and in some cases the centuries old windows have been redesigned to make the charm of this apartment.

Thick old stone walls and the beautiful wooden walls make a harmonious whole. Vaulted ceiling in the kitchen and in the small bedroom shows the varied architecture of this house, which of rural rustic noble grand in the living room to all offers something that is produced in the past centuries. We have done our best to get the rooms in their original state, to repair and embellish and equip comfortable. For heat there are new infrared heating panels with room thermostat. All rooms with new floors have a controllable comfort floor heating to keep your feet comfortably warm.

The large wooden room with the oak floor is a warm, comfortable room and original as it is likely several centuries. Generations of families have left their mark. We have changed nothing. The old stone oven is available as a witness even in the room and the original windows we could renovate with enormous effort. Old and new - that is the symbiosis for the entire house. I.e. old material and new comfort.

New and equipped accordingly. With induction cook top, convection oven, dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, microwave, JURA coffee machine, filter coffee maker, toaster, blender and all that is needed for an enjoyable stay. A large dining table for 6 people invite you into hours.

The balcony outside the kitchen is lighted and furnished with a few folding chairs and a small table. Because smoking is not allowed all over the apartment, smokers can indulge their passion there and enjoy the view of the mountains and the romantic garden.The seating in the garden is an enchanting corner of the courtyard in the middle of many plants, shrubs and trees. It is available in the summer and unfortunately can not be achieved directly from the house, but from the garden gate next to the entrance to the parking lot.

This space should be earlier times have been a kitchen smoke. Of these, maybe testify the round bar under the vaulted ceiling, on which maybe hung meat and sausages and the large chimney, under which the toilet is now installed with sink. Behind ugly paneling we found a wall built shelf and an old stone bulk. Everything is still in the room. New is now a pullout bed for 2 people.

This large room could have served next to the living area as a meeting room. As the big buildings and the original accompanying long barn suggest that their owner must have been wealthy. Originally a rustic room, during baroque times the walls and ceiling were plastered and provided with fine plaster moldings. On the ceiling are still the original plaster moldings.

Each bedroom has its own style, both from the room, as well as the furniture. The white room is completely covered with wood. The last existing floor boards made of spruce was obtained. This room has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers for 2 people. Under a canopy with curtains is the baby or child's bed for up to 3 years young small children. Eating and drinking utensils, baby spoons, baby high chair, bath tub, even a potty is available.

Rustic and elegant at the same time, depending on the viewing angle. The lighting is automatically controlled with motion detectors, searching for light switches belongs to past.

Here we have a washer and dryer for our guests.  An iron and ironing board and a shoe shine machine. On a shelf there are different utensils, such as detergent, towels, toilet paper, sponges, etc.

including cleaning, taxes, waste and water charges, bed linen and towels, kitchen towels.
